Mt. Rokko, Mt. Maya, and Arima Onsen

Rokkosan Pasture

On the west side of Mt Rokko you can find Rokkosan Pasture, a beautiful area where sheep’s, cows, goats and donkeys graze in its large pastures. You can get close to the animals here. You can go to the cheese house, to see how they make cheese, and wool.

Music Box Museum Hall of Halls Rokko

Concert museum, that have more then 80 old music boxes that you can see and listen to. Also can you play various kind of musical instruments such as the violin, piano, and mechanical organs.

Rokko Garden Terrace

On top of Mt Rokko, there is a garden terrace a place with a some shops, restaurants, and light meal shops, but the most beautiful thing is the panoramic view over the city of Kobe, especially at night view, named 10 million dollar nightscape, is magnificent.

Rokko Country House

Mt. Rokko Country House/Field Athletics is a comprehensive outdoor leisure facility located on Mt. Rokko where abundant natural beauty remains untouched. A variety of amusement facilities are available such as a barbecue garden (reservations needed), fishing pond, miniature golf field, etc. at Mt. Rokko Country House/Field Athletics where you can enjoy outdoor activities to your heart?fs content in the wildness all day long.

The Field Athletics, located next to the Country House, is an adventure playground with 40 obstacles, and is one of the largest full-scale adventure playgrounds in the Kansai region. (The Country House and adventure playground are closed in winter.)

Rokko Alpine Flora Botanical Garden

The garden opened in 1933, lays at an altitude of 865m height,and has an average temperature of 9 degrees, which is similar to the south of Hokkaido. Because the temperature is this low there are growing many plants and flowers that usually live under cold weather conditions.

There are around 1.500 species of wild plants in this area.

Arima Hot springs

The Arima hot springs are one of Japan it's oldest and most famous shot springs, where you can relax and enjoy the soothing atmosphere of a spring that has been welling up for thousands of years. There are two types of baths in Arima, one is “Kin-no-yu,” Golden Spring, and the other is “Gin-no-yu,” Silver Spring. The Gold Spring contains a high level of iron and salt, shining in gold. When you take a bath, beware because the gold spring can make your towel turn brown! The Silver Spring has no colour and contains carbonic acid.

As the Legend goes, this were the favourite onsen from Hideyoshi Toyotomi , the ruler of Japan in the 17th century. Arima-onsen is very popular as it is referred to as "The back parlour of Keihanshin" (Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe).

Trout Pond

A fishing pond where even people who are new to fishing can catch a fish, and eat it right on the spot after they catched it.

Taikou-no-Yudonokan

This is a reference library retaining Hideyoshi’s Yuyama-Goten(palace) of those days which was discovered after 400 years when they tried to rebuild Library of Gokuraku-ji destroyed by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. The garden was covered with 1-meter-high earth, but the building was restored as it were in those days. Hideyoshi’s Yuyama-Goten(palace) was destroyed by Tokugawa family, who built Gokuraku-ji and Nenbutsu-ji at the vacant lot where it used to be.
